Cold Weather Nail Colors

I’m not super girly when it comes to my nails but I do like for them to be polished most of the time. Summer is all about bright colors and oblige but I truly love fall and winter nail colors. I love black and navy nails they just look so edgy and fun to me. I also love deep wine and greens they just scream winter to me. But a nice red will forever hold a special during the Christmas season for me. I have linked below some fabulous dark nail polishes for  fall and winter.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail, Haute Couture Red– this color is more of a wine colored red than bright red. L’oreal polish does stay on pretty good I can get at least two to three days without any chipping. Also this is a drug store nail polish so the price is affordable under 5 dollars.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail, Breaking Curfew– the color look for this one is purplish navy almost like a night sky. This is similar chemistry to the previous polish so once again I can get few days before this starts to chip. The price point is also below 5 dollars.

Essie After School Boy Blazer– if you are looking for a true navy this is the polish for you. This polish does require a retouch after a day or two but will be chipped off without a retouch. I think Essie is considered a salon brand and the price reflects it. You can occasionally find the Essie polishes on sale but original price is 8.99

Opi Black Oynx– is black black but very beautiful if you like black nails. I tell people if you don’t want to do all your nails black do it as an accent nail. Either way this is black that you want in your nail collection. The price is also around 8.99 and can be found on sale.

Hope you find a new color that you will try this fall.

Favorite Hair Brands 2018

I’m loyal to a fault sometimes even when it comes to my natural hair care products. I like to use the whole line if available when I do my hair on wash day. I hate when I try a line of products and something just doesn’t work well with my hair or the products don’t work well together. I have loved a shampoo and conditioner but hated the stylers or vice versa that I can usually will deal with and may still purchase those products if they are on sale but in my mind I have written that brand off and probably won’t be excited new lines that they put out. Now it the products don’t even play well together that is whole another story I will never repurchase that brand again especially if see other people had similar issues. The brands I’m going to share I haven’t had a bad product from them yet and get excited when they put out new products or lines.

My number one bad bitch boo is The Mane Choice. I haven’t had a bad experience with their products yet. My favorite product from them hands down is the 24 carat twisting gel. The gel can be used for twist out or wash and go. When they introduced the leave-in companion that was all she wrote for me. I plan on giving them all my coins this downloadupcoming holiday season too because I have already fallen in love with the new type 4 leaf clover line also. Another positive is this brand is sold at Sally Beauty and Naturallycurly.com so you can get the products at a discount when they have sales or coupons.

My next favorite brand I also enjoy is Oyin Handmade . Once again every product from the cleanser to the stylers in this brand work amazing in my hair. My favorite Oyin product is the Hair Dew it is a wonderful leave-in that makes my hair feel amazing. When my hair is feeling dry and parched even after I have washed and deep conditioned I will reach for this and know my hair is going to be alright. As much as love TMC if I could only purchase from one line the rest of my life it would be from Oyin. download (1)Oyin has the same the line up of products for over five plus years that I know of and take their time with introducing new products to their brand. They also have amazing body products.

I can’t leave off Kinky Curly, they are also OG’s in the natural hair care game and their products are still pretty popular among naturals. Their stand out for me is the Knot Today leave-in. download (2)Other brands have tried to duplicate it but none can touch it. I can always tell when brands are trying to make their leave-in comparable to Knot Today. It will have that super white look but very light and almost feel like a thick serum. Also the Curling Custard will leave you with a perfect wash and go every time.

I do have a favorite drug store brand if you are on a budget. The Pantene Gold Series is amazing also. All of the products have wonderful slip and best of they are affordable and available just about every where. If you wanted to try a product from this line I would go with the Hydrating Butter Cremedownload (3)The creme can be used for wash and go’s or twist outs.

Using Up My Stash 2018

Most natural girls have a hair product stash. While some naturals product stashes may bigger or small than others I think we all have one. Being a natural hair product junkie is real so you often end up with a products that you might only use once or sometimes not at all. This all in the quest to find the perfect combination to keep your hair moisturized but also with a bomb style. Youtube product pushers aren’t as aggressive as they once were but there are still some out there and with companies dropping new lines every few months it can be hard not pick up new products before you have finished your old products.

The past year my goal has been to not buy so many hair products and use up what I have. I have done pretty good  but I still have products that I haven’t touched or haven’t touched in months. I have given some products away and thrown products that were expired or a funny smell/look. I think I have gotten it down to something manageable stash. I have tried to use up my stash before and the thing that I have found that works is use all of my products from the same brand for a month. That is the point I’m at now, so I want to take you along with me as use these products and will do mini reviews at the end of the month.  I will also go back to keeping a hair journal so that I will have place to reference on whether a product is worth repurchasing or not. The only time I won’t stick with the product line of the month is if I have an event and need a specific look that I know I can’t achieve with that line. The hair line I will use for the remainder of July are products that are Sally’s specific lines that include Pure Oils, Texture ID and Silk Elements.

Pure Oils: shampoo, leave-in, twist cream, gel and moisturizer

Texture ID: shampoo

Silk Elements: mayonnaise deep conditioner
